Short Description

A solar streetlight installation project has brought reliable nighttime lighting to several previously dark streets in Epe.

Details

Several streets in the Epe township that had been in darkness for years have been lit up following the installation of solar-powered streetlights as part of a state government rural electrification and community infrastructure programme. The newly illuminated routes include key pedestrian paths near the central market, a road leading to the secondary school, and a stretch near the local health centre. Residents say the change has been transformative, with the market area now buzzing with activity into the evening hours where before traders had to close by dusk. A secondary school student said she can now study at the community reading point near the school after returning from classes. LGA officials who supervised the installation say a second phase covering additional streets in outlying communities is planned for later in the year, subject to continued state government funding.
