Short Description

Commuters near Ogba bus stop are reporting a rise in daylight snatching and robbery incidents by motorcycle-riding criminals.

Details

Commuters and pedestrians near the Ogba bus stop in Ifako-Ijaiye LGA are reporting an alarming increase in daylight robbery incidents carried out by young men on motorcycles who snatch phones, bags, and other valuables before speeding away. Multiple victims have come forward in the past two weeks to describe similar incidents, with most occurring in broad daylight between 8 AM and noon when the area is busiest. A civil servant said she had her phone snatched as she stood waiting for a bus, while a trader described being pushed off balance when a motorcyclist grabbed his bag. The local vigilante group in Ogba says they have been reporting the pattern to the police for weeks but that response has been slow. A petition with documented incidents has been submitted to the officer-in-charge of the nearest police divisional headquarters. Residents are urging increased police presence and the deployment of plainclothes operatives to the area.
