Concerned by rising youth involvement in criminal activities, a coalition of community elders, retired civil servants, and religious leaders in Mushin LGA have formally launched a mentorship initiative called the Mushin Pathfinders Programme, designed to provide structured guidance, vocational exposure, and character development for young men between the ages of 14 and 25. The programme, which operates out of a community hall, runs sessions three evenings a week covering topics such as life skills, financial literacy, trades exposure, and civic responsibility. Founding members say the initiative was born out of frustration with the security situation in the community and a belief that long-term change requires community ownership rather than waiting solely for government intervention. Over 80 young men have enrolled in the first cohort. Several local businesses have offered to provide internship placements for participants who complete the programme.
