Short Description

The Kosofe LGA administration has launched a free vocational skills training programme targeting unemployed youth in the council area.

Details

The Kosofe Local Government Administration has officially launched a free vocational skills training programme designed to equip unemployed young people in the LGA with practical skills and support their transition into self-employment or formal employment. The programme, which runs for three months, offers training in six skill areas including tailoring and fashion design, electrical installation, catering and confectionery, phone and laptop repair, graphic design, and hairdressing. The inaugural cohort comprises 180 trainees selected through an open application process that attracted over 800 applicants. Training will be delivered at the LGA’s skills acquisition centre five days a week, with participants receiving a small monthly stipend to support their commitment to attendance. The LGA chairman, who addressed trainees at the opening ceremony, said the programme is part of a broader youth empowerment agenda and that successful graduates will receive starter kits and linkage to microfinance support.
