Short Description

Upscale Ikoyi residents are filing formal complaints over persistent loud noise from a newly opened nightclub operating late into the night.

Details

Several residents of a quiet residential estate in Ikoyi have written a formal petition to the Eti-Osa LGA council and the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency over what they describe as unbearable noise pollution emanating from a nightclub that opened four months ago on an adjoining commercial street. The petition, signed by over 60 households, states that the club operates loud music past 3 AM on weekends, making sleep impossible for families including young children and elderly residents. One signatory, a retired professor, described the situation as a violation of their right to peaceful enjoyment of their homes. The club’s management has not yet publicly responded to the petition. Residents are calling for enforcement of Lagos State noise pollution regulations and are threatening to take civil action if authorities fail to act. The LGA environmental health desk has confirmed receipt of the petition and says an inspection will be conducted.
